About Me:
I believe in giggling children. I believe in Smarties and carnival rides as a cure for depression. I enjoy pop tarts and photography. My cackle is fierce and my sense of humor is occasionally wicked. I am a self help/personal growth junkie and avid feminist. I am blessed beyond words to have four children growing into the finest humans I've ever met, and am thoroughly enjoying my last pregnancy (I know, I've said that before). My partner in life, love, business and all things goofy is my best friend Reggie. This is my life.

I'm not a cat person...but...

Sometimes, the best source of entertainment is watching kittens play. We have a 6-7 week old kitten who was abandoned in our carport where she was born to a neighborhood domestic cat. Half of the time she walks around in a drunken stupor. The other half, baked out of her mind on catnip. She stalks our feet and her sworn enemy is our shower curtain which she attacks with fury. She walks with her claws out, it's like watching someone with gum stuck to the bottoms of their shoe. She trips over her own feet and races across the floor for no apparent reason. Her energy is chaos, her moods dramatic. She is a happy kitten.

Busy Baby Day

We ended up taking the whole herd to our prenatal appointment today. Four kids and us sqeezed into a small exam room with clanky toys. You could have run the whole office on the energy output of the room. It was crazy. But we got to hear Squirrely's heartbeat so that made up for it. The kids left, except for Aric, to hang out with me and watch me get some blood drawn for some routine tests. Then we went downstairs and scheduled our big ultrasound! Next Wednesday at 3pm we'll get to see the bebe…

Thankful for Him

The warm intense snuggling in the cold hours of the morning.
The smile I catch him giving me out of the corner of my eye.
The way he makes me hug him, even when I'm mad at him.
The way he admits he is wrong, miscommunicated, or is just....sorry.
The fact that he could be a jeans model with that ass.
The freedom and security he so freely gives me to explore my dreams and be me.
The way he supports me as a mother.
The way he opens up to me as a friend.
The honesty t…

Dan in Real Life

In lieu of going to a huge blowout party last night an hour away, I opted to hang out with my man and go to a movie. We caught Dan in Real Life.

Best movie I've seen in a very long time.

I love tangled, dynamic relationship. I love the intermingling of a large cast, especially when that cast represents a family or close knit group of friends. One of my favorite movies of all time is The Big Chill. Or Parenthood.

Dan's family congregates to his parent's house for a reu…

Burning Down the House

We had a laid back morning today. Andy was feeling ill yesterday, so I decided to let him stay home. Aric was ready to go to school, but once discovered Andy was staying home, came to me, in a beggish voice prepared for rejection saying "Mooooom...I don't waaaaant to go to school today!!!" "Okay!" I said. His frown melted into beams of joy and love and he lunged at me, arms wide open. I asked Zach if he wanted to stay home, but the kid has a party at school, and by God, he wasn't going to miss i…

The kitty in the mattress and the blue ghost...

So this morning Reggie and I are fully intertwined in our morning snuggle. The alarm goes off, he reaches up and hits the "knock that shit off" button, and we return to our power snuggle. Moments later...."Meeeeooooooow......pause.....MEeeeeoooowww" This goes on for several seconds. Reggie gets up to hunt for the kitty. This was the first night that we didn't "box" her for the night, but let her run amok to find a place to hunker down for the night. She has a really super comfy basket to sleep i…

Awesome photograph on Blogger. I look like that most days. Messy face, baking cookies. OK, not baking cookies. Man, those cookies looked good. Is there a recipe for those cookies? 'Cause, I mean, it's really all about the cookies... and the messy face... what was I saying?
