Who is still going the pace with NaBloPoMo?

Added a post Nov 22 2007

I thought I'd be more organised this year and I picked a theme to blog along. Still finding it a real challenge though! Maybe even harder than last year. I think it's because with the theme I feel... Read More »

Petition to Change Name to GloBloPoMo

Added a post Nov 21 2007

My husband pointed this out to me at the beginning of the month. That it's National Blogging Month but I'm not an American. I definitely agree on the name change. I vote for GloBloPoMo. It keeps t... Read More »

Day 22 - I ♥ our London buddies

could hardly do an "I ♥ London" list without mentioning our London buddies. Our friends in London keep us sane.

While living in London we've made heaps of new friends from all over the world. We hang out with people from Australia,New Zealand,Canada,Slovakia,France,America,Norway,South Africa,Poland,Croatia and even a token Brit or two. (Almost all of the previously mentioned countries are represented on our ultimate team. It's a sport that crosses all geographical boundaries.) Living…

Day 21 - The Colosseum

We headed to the Colosseum early in the morning to once again try to escape the crowds. We decided to sign up with a guided tour to skip the long queue for tickets. (I'd definitely had enough queuing the day before.)

Colosseum trivia:

  • The Colosseum is responsible for changing the meaning of the word arena. In Latin arena translates to sand. In Roman times, the floor of the Colosseum was covered in sand so people would often say "let's go to the arena". This is why in

Day 20 - St Peter's Basilica

After the Vatican Museums, the next stop on the agenda was St Peter's Basilica. Before heading to St Peter's,we did stop to rest our weary feet and squeeze in a couple of rounds of pasta. (Literally... I'll explain later.)

Our mission for St Peter's was to conquer the dome. Reputedly the largest dome in the world,I definitely wasn't going to let it beat me. We caught the lift up the first two hundred stairs and then climbed the remaining 300 or so. In the end it wasn't that difficult…

Day 19 - Vatican City Museums

Obviously somewhere between the last Italy post and this Italy post,we travelled to Rome. On a train...

In Rome, our group split into two; Rome veterans and Rome newbies. Both Sue and Natalie had visited Rome before,so they trotted off and did relaxing things like buying handbags and eating prosciutto. J,Andrew and I had not been to Rome before,so we donned our sturdiest walking shoes and spent most of our time queuing.

Our first morning in Rome,we decided to visit the Vatic…

I understand about not having the colosseum living up to your expectations. I knew that Tikal was the largest collection of Mayan pyramids, so I didn't walk on many of them, expecting there to be more (bad knees)... and then I was told ok, that was all of them! Regret not reading up more before I went.
