Blog Posts

The last day of our acquaintance...

Maybe not. But probably.

I have so many accounts where I can blog, and I post different places depending on the subject, audience, privacy, what have you. I originally thought I HAD to post my blog on the ning site, and it was more private (because I shared the link less) so it worked because I could go on and on about certain *ahem* topics.

But this is it for ning, I believe. Here are the places you can find me:

Recovering

If - and it's a big IF - my work/boss doesn't try to kill my spirit today, I just may have a shot at recovering from this dark patch.

Neck still sore (whether it's from the adjustment or the original pain I can't tell, will go back later in the week if needed) but my spirits are definitely brighter.

ugh

Work is extra annoying today. Can't go into more details cause I'm obviously AT work... but UGH!!!

Frustrated with feeling that this has to be a decent/real blog, although it really is serving no huge purpose other than try to win a prize and contemplating my life. And really no one but fiddlemama is reading it (and not sure why she still is ;o) LOL!) I both want more people to read it and for no one to read it, so I can act like a complete nutcase and not be embarassed next ti…

Safe

Meredith admits that she's not ready to stop seeing Derek. "And it's not about the sex, it's not...about the sex. It's about that moment afterward. When the world stops. I just feel so safe. So safe. I'm not ready to give that up. Does that make me sad and weak and pathetic?" Cristina admits, "A little bit." Meredith thinks about it and asks, "What do I do." Cristina, admitting defeat and whispering, "I don't know."

Going Ballistic!

......................................For those who don't know Ballistics, it is concerned with the motion of the projectiles. Ode to 7-11

“Hello, Lady, Long Time No See You!”

I’m in here every day
just not when you’re working
but I must admit
I enjoy our 3 a.m.
discussions in broken English,
mine shattered through exhaustion,
yours still incomplete
after your long journey.

I came for my Obama cup
for the 7-Election
Your brilliant marketing ploy
to get out the vote.

I came for Spaghetti-O’s
I came for Fruit Cocktail,

30 is the new 20

I wish I knew who first made this asinine statement. 30 is the new 20. Why is that? You wasted your 20s trying to be a thug and doing nothing to prepare for a career; having illegitimate children and letting taxpayers foot the bill. Now you're 30 and you want people to take you seriously. You don't want your past to count against you.

Strangely enough, this phrase has caught on and maybe, with it, the fever to do better. Folks are making more money, opening more businesse…

Divorce Mania

Maybe I'm naive -- or a hopeless romantic but why do so many marriages end in divorce? While I do believe that some circumstances call for it -- domestic violence -- the rest can be dealt with accordingly.

If we care about one another, why can't we stay together while we fix your gambling problem or work on my alcoholism? Have we become so selfish that any little infraction is a reason for divorce? I've heard reasons like "she doesn't spend any time…

Face to Face Consultations

As you all know by now, I'm doing some personal upgrades. One are is body image. I proceed to contact several gyms in the DC Metro area to inquire about memberships. I know that I won't utilize even half o the amenities offered, so I concentrate on those with hours I can work with, an agreeable location and a circuit weight system -- anything else is fluff.

After highlighting about three that met my qualifications, I began making phone calls. Two of the three surpassed my…

As a modern woman I am a bit reluctant to let my kitchen define me. But If I am being honest I have to say that what you find in a person’s kitchen does say a lot about who they might be. It’s no secret that I do a lot of cooking and baking. I find that to prepare a meal…

Depression pill may damage men's chances of having children

The terms depression refer to both expected and pathologically chronic or severe levels of sadness, perceived helplessness, disinterest, and other related emotions and behaviours. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders states that a depressed mood is often reported as being: "depressed, sad, hopeless, discouraged, or 'down in the dumps'.

A New Adventure

Blogging my way through NaNo will definitely be a new experience. Every year, I try to find new ways to challenge myself. So, I'll use this part of November to record my experiences as I push to finish not one but three novels in thirty days. 7-Election?

Went to the 7-11 today... I was over in Delaware to go to Borders to look for some new books of poetry and some other piece-of-garbage book on writing to semi-inspire me for NaNoWriMo. (I have a serious addiction to these books on writing, which have succeeded in getting me precisely nowhere. Poetry on the Foam

I ended up hauling that foam mattress from my parents' house to my new place and putting it in my office... or maybe I should call it a studio, since it feels more creative than anything else, not quite so work-oriented right now.

I checked the weather tonight in San Liberal via Yahoo and noticed that it's raining there. Finally, rain in San Liberal! I can imagine the brown velvet tinder-box hills starting to tinge green, the sigh of relief from the glacial hill near my old apartment that was long tagged with the red flags of fire season.

I'll leave behind my little travelogue for a minute just to say that Not Losing is Not Winning either. The fact that the media is giving Sarah Palin an enormous pat on the back for jumping over a bar set 3" above the ground is appalling to me. She didn't win. She lost. Plain and simple.

For those of you in the DC, MD, VA area, you are familiar with METRO -- the mass transit system. Well, we all know that there are problems on every system, but what I'm going to discuss here is not the system itself, but the riders.

Why is it that folks want to take up more than one seat on the subway? Why do I have to ask you to move out of the way and allow me to sit down? That's not fair to me. Why you ask? Simple --> How many seats did you pay for? One. So did I. M…

NaBloPoMo, The Election and Cousin Charlie

So, I just discovered NaBloPoMo online. It's like NaNoWriMo, only you don't have to write anything necessarily coherent and/or publishable, just write 31 posts in 31 days. A challenge! It's not easy! A friend of mine tried to do it back in May, and she failed miserably, making it through maybe a week before she gave up. Albeit, she was writing a chapter of her dissertation at the time, and really didn't have time to actually post about anything except the deadlines that were making her crazy.…

I am not an expert on political commentary but I do have some experience in dealing with human beings who can't get along. My head is about to pop off from all the arguing. Every time I turn on the TV or radio I hear one side blaming the other for the financial woes we are all going to pay for one way or the other. If I wanted to be tormented I would just open the door to the family room and listen to the kids bicker about who is taking up too much space on the couch. If

Eight years ago I didn't vote. To be honest I didn't care about it at all. I was 23 and politics was the last thing on my mind. I think the first time I ever registered to vote I registered myself as a Republican. Why? I guess because my parents were. Are. I'm pretty sure they are.

4 years ago I voted in my first presidential election. Instead of sticking to a party, because I had no idea if I was a Democrat or a Republican, I decided to look at each candidate and see who I agreed with…

Public apathy is more powerful than public opinion. There's more of it.

Sitting in her chair she bops long with Weezer's troublemaker as it plays from her Windows Media Player. She turns around and yells at her cat for pushing over the big box of food when he has some in his bowl. She return to the drawing board trying to decide on what to write. She leans forward in her chair and manages to get it stuck on something. Pushing backwards she can't seem to get it free so she shifts a little and brings the chair down, on her toe. She winces realizing she could have avoi…

Why is it that people don't respect time anymore? We all claim to be so busy - even I have said that there aren't enough hours in the day to complete all the tasks I'd like to complete. But, one thing I think I have is common courtesy. All too often, people think their time is much more important than everyone else's.

For instance, we've set an appointment to meet at 1:00pm on Monday but you don't show up until 2:30pm saying that you were taking care of some business. Ar…

Does Mommy Love It? YES! Princess Bubble By Mommy Zabs on September 30th, 2008 We all know the main elements of a fairy tale.
