NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

NaBloPoMo every month...thoughts?

Personally, I was a little put off by it considering it's something we all get together and do once a year. Doing it every month kind of takes away from the excitement and new thrill of it, I think. It's great that this place will get more use year-round, though, and those that strive to post 30 days in a row or more are getting rewarded with prizes and community/friends, etc.

So what do 'you' think? And how often do you think you'll participate?

How often I participate depends on the themes. There are some things I just wouldn't want to do, and there are some I'd love. (And as a mostly-food blogger... I am hoping for something to food-related.)

I agree that having one official NaBloPoMo makes it a little more special, but for the people who are also doing NaNoWriMo and other things in November, I think this makes it a little more accessible. As long as the blog rolls are kept neat and tidy, I think it should be fun.

I think it'll be a lot of fun. I'm jazzed! A lot of friends and family were wanting me to continue after Nov and I just got burned out - but the themes will help!

I just received the email from Eden and I'm psyched. I don't think I'll participate every month, but March will work for me. I'm super glad this is going year-round, a month at a time. Great idea, Eden!

I like the idea of November being kept special, but it sounds like Eden's got plans for that. The restriction on prizes will help there, as does the fact that November is traditional. Other ideas will probably emerge closer to the time.

Themed months are good because it stops people like me from falling into bad habits - if you look at the calender for my blog, you will readily notice that the post frequency's been gradually decreasing. Also, it keeps the community glued together when maybe otherwise it would drift apart a bit. For that matter, the Blog365 people are probably very thankful because it's another idea they can choose to use in their blog to help them in their marathon.

Good one, Eden.

Thanks, guys! I hope it works. It just seems like this is a nice little community that has to sit around waiting eleven months for something to do. I am ALL ABOUT looking for ideas to keep November special, and PLEASE let me know if you have a good idea for a theme.

I think it's a great idea. I love having a theme to turn to. What if we called it MoBlo? March MoBlo has a ring to it.

I am one of the ones who joined Blog365. I blog daily at one or another of my sites. I have since dropped out of the actual group, but I still want to keep my commitment to blog daily. I like the idea of the monthly blog for NaBloPoMo because I like the theme idea. I'm going to do March's theme in addition to the things I already do on my other blogs. I'm looking forward to coming up with 31 lists. Haha.

In theory, I guess it's a good idea, but I don't think I'll be up for it. I was without Internet access for two months (just got back online Thursday), but I was keeping a journal on my computer while I was offline... and it didn't work out all that well.

My New Year's resolution was to write every day, and I've managed to do that, but much of what I wrote while Internet-free isn't anything I'd want to put online for public consumption, and I have to say that if I had my druthers, I'd rather just participate in NaBloPoMo while in the throes of NaNoWriMo - since I'm already in high writing gear in November, it's not as hard to come up with at least something to write about every day, even if it's "Woot! I wrote two thousand words today!" or "Meh, I didn't do squat."

I don't really play well with themes, but I may give March a shot, since it's just lists. I can come up with a lot of lists, ranging from "Things I Want to Do Before I Die" to "Stuff I Need from the Grocery Store." :P

MOBLO is very funny, kinda like mofo which is very flamable.... urbandictionary.com is the place to run stuff by before using it online....

LISTS in March, i have about ten ready to write about, but not sure i can find to read anymore than i post, it should be a rule to read at least two for everyone we write, thus true brotherly blogging, broblo i mean, which is reading as much or more than we rhant

I like the idea of going monthly, if anything, to keep the community active.

I love this. I didn't know about NaBloPoMo at all until yesterday when I read about it on Eden's blog. I have recently restarted blogging and I think this will help me get a running start.

I am ready! I blogged everyday last month...February, posting Love & Passion poems along with my usual posts. This month for March, I am running a Love list. So this is going to be good for me and hopefully someone else will be inspired to join in.

i'm all over the monthly themes! i don't think i'll participate every month, since i got so burnt out in november, but the rounds where i don't think i'm able to come up with a post **every day**, i can still post every so often. though, obviously, not adding my name into the blogroll, if i'm not in it whole hog. i'm liking "lists" enough to do at least once a week (i think i'll be rocking "the monday list") if not more.

other month ideas? food: post your recipes, restaurant reviews, memories of things grandma made at holidays. pics: yeah, i know someone on another thread proposed an alterna-theme of pics for march, but i think it's an A+ idea for everyone to get in on for real, later. project: pick something about yourself, your job, your living space that you've always wanted to change, and track the progress. books: the 29-31 books that have changed the way you view the world, or just your all-time killer faves, one review a day.

as always, Eden, you rule!!

I with you...but I do plan to get through this first month. My love list was something I was going to do anyway, so this just forced my hand. I must say it is ambitious to blog EVERYDAY...aaargh. I did last month in support of Love and passion for Valentine's Day...yep I posted a poem everyday that was all about love & passion. After the first few days, I came to love doing it. I am hoping to love capturing 100 qualities of my next soul mate list.

Wish me luck!

Fireweaver, those are some really good ideas for themes, especially for the more general bloggers on the list.

Good luck, Lovebabz!

I'm doing a lot of mini-lists. Statistics lists (one for each day of the month, so today I'm doing F1 statistics relating to the number three), a couple of how-to lists, random(ish) regulation lists, some other assorted lists... ...this looks like a lot of fun!
