National Blog Posting Month

Blogging ahead of time...

I love blogger's scheduled posts feature. It recently went from available only on draft.blogger to mainstream. Basically, you can draft a post, punch in a future time, and click "post" and that post will appear at that future time.

It makes daily blogging so much easier. But do you guys consider blogging ahead of time "Cheating"?

I don't think of it as cheating. I often blog ahead of time and save it in drafts so I have my thoughts together as my topics and writing comes to me. My blogger stuff formats funny (extra spaces) so I don't know if I'll use the "schedule" feature but it's nice to have!

I do the same as Jessica. I blog ahead of time and save as drafts. That way, I know what I want to type about and have my thoughts ready. LOL!! Although sometimes my friends say I'm holding out. Oh well.

No, because I still write every day. I just don't post in write after I've written it. Writing isn't my greatest strength, so I need to draft.

I've never used the scheduler to put posts in ahead of time, but I do sometimes have to use it to correct the dates of posts that have decided that they were posted on a different day to the one they were actually posted on.

I don't think of it as cheating. I often have something pop into my mind when I am sitting there, but I've already done two posts that day, so I type it up and save it as a draft to be published at some point in the next week. It's either that or I need to start carrying a tape recorder with me to get all my thoughts out. And they're not nearly as ridiculous entertaining if I do that.

I'm impressed that people write posts ahead of time. I scramble to write something each day, and post as soon as I'm finished (which explains the typos).

I wonder if people will notice that my posts always appear at 6:00 am every day? I pre-schedule all my posts on blogger now.

I have a lot of drafts in various stages and I usually think about tomorrow's post throughout the day. I choose one of my topics, or write about what happened on that day, and edit it throughout the evening. Then I schedule it to appear the next morning.

I feel like it gives me a lot of freedom. I scheduled several when I was away from my computer for a vacation a week ago.

I do that when I see that I have a crazy work schedule coming up. I'll post about some ideas that I've had and save them, and then on the day I need to post, I just have to log in and switch it from draft to post.

Blogging ahead of time - no. I do it.

Missing a day, then setting the time to the day before - yes. But I still do it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I know some might make a fuss about it, but really, you're still writing lots of content, still blogging, and still keeping up with the challenge....you're just doing it when you can, just like those people who only can spare 5 minutes to post right before midnight. You're fine. :)

The scheduled feature is good business. The feature is great for organizing, scheduling new posts and reviewing. My ideas don't always match with the topic needed that day (think work environments that have many teams, process improvements, data collection, reports, etc... most are published the day it is written). I think planning ahead is a virtue. If this feature was not available, I would still draft new topics and do research until it is completed; only would store in another program/file.

I am digging this feature now as I will be away for a few days. Thankfully this month's topic is food and I have been posting recipes to my food blog and over here. So I really don't feel it is cheating just planning ahead.

No...thanks for letting me in on this...didn't know it was a possibility. I've "blogged" and saved it as a word document before and then on the morning that I know I have about 5 minutes to be online I'll just paste the entry in for the day and be done with it. I like this idea. I'll have to check it out.
