I hope this is okay. I don't live in Atlanta yet...but I might be moving there after the New Year. I figured it couldn't hurt to join a group or two about the city I might be living in :)
Heh, wow. That's the exact reason why I moved down here from Maryland. I'm sorry if things don't end up working out for you to move down here.
How is weather in Chicago? Really cold yet?
It's recently dropped a lot in temperature at night here... frost on the windshields, etc. But during the day it's definitely awesome, a steady 60 degrees and sunny. I'm loving it. While we never had really cold weather until about February in Maryland, I can definitely live with more temperate climates, like here :)
Then again, we are having a really bad drought... Chicago probably isn't :D
I had fun during my visit to Atlanta. I wish I could have gotten to see more of it though.
How was the move from Maryland? Was it a big shock to be living there? How long have you been there?
Chicago is cold! We had our first flurries this morning near O'hare airport. It's about 30-40 degrees in the morning when I get up. I'm not ready at all for winter!
I've had a little bit of a rough time adjusting. It's my first time 'on my own' here, and it's hard for me being away from my family. Most of them live in closer to Maryland, although an aunt moved down here about the same time I did. I guess more difficult than that is being away from all of my friends from the last few years, and not having very many people down here to hang out with otherwise.
I've been here almost three months. I got my first 'real' job just after moving, which is great for me (yay money!). It's kept me occupied, really.
I do like the city. There are aspects I dislike, of course, like the traffic, and that recycling is so difficult down here (there is almost none... that I know of, at least on my side of town). I'm sure as I continue to settle in over the upcoming months and longer I'll love the city; before I moved, I visited and loved it.
Winter can stay up north :) We're still basking in early fall, here, hehe.
Oh, and by the way, I've always wanted to visit Chicago (I've been inside the airport for a two hour layover...but that doesn't count)!
Yeah the stay in the airport does Chicago no justice. It's an amazing city during an season. Let me know if and when you do visit, I have some great suggestions for places to see :)
I moved to Salt Lake City, UT...that was a huge adjustment. And then I moved again to southern Illinois. Another huge adjustment. That town was nothing without the Wal-Mart. I'm trying to stick to big cities now. I think I'd have a hard time settling in Atlanta only because it's not really a place I've ever seen myself living. And I'd only be moving for him, not really the city. This would be so much easier if he'd just move here haha. But how can you pass up warm weather for snow right?
Glad you're getting settled in though and congrats on the job. I bet it can be pretty difficult finding something in a new place.
